'Wish you were here!' is the statement that the 29-boat strong A Scow fleet shouted loud and clear on the second day of the 2008 I.L.Y.A. A Scow One Design Championship on Lake Mendota. The spectator fleet was quick to grow as keelboats, tenders and Mendota spectators joined the fleet on the water.

The day began with the slightest threat in the air but bad weather moved south of Madison to allow for a start time of 11:00 sharp. In race one of the day, the 2008 National Champion team of Terry Blanchard and Andy Burdick on I-28 Silverhawk got back on track with a bullet, followed by Ken Wruk on I-71 Madcap in second and in third, for total Lake Geneva domination — John Porter helming his infamous I-49 Full Throttle.

Race two sealed the deal for overnight leader Rob Evans on M-1 Cosmic Warrior. With a third place finish behind Blanchard/Burdick in second and Patrick Hughes on M-21 Melvin Racing taking the top spot, Evans played the high consistency card. At the conclusion of four races, his 4-6-5-3 scoreline has him seated in first place with 18 points. Next in contention is Blanchard/Burdick with 24 points, and tied with 24 points also is Porter in third.

What happened to Buddy? A tough race three, finished him in a devastating 22nd position. He came back in race four to finish fifth. His gorgeous 2-2 first day score combined with the tragedy of race three and rebounding race four finds this sailing ace seated in seventh. Chuck Lampere also tumbled backwards with an 11th and a 19th, pushing him back to 9th overall.

Tomorrow's final day of racing should produce some exciting results with two more scheduled races beginning with a 1000 warning signal.
