It was wild action on small Lake Beulah as 55 (count them) boats took to the water. The wind gods were smiling down on us as the prevailing winds were perfect to allow excitement and close, skillful handling of these fast machines. Three races tired most of the fleet out but chairman Frank Davenport knew how to revive the fleet with a pontoon ride after the races and before dinner.

The three races were won by B-88 Jay Hiller/Robert Klement, V137 Jim Gluek/Goerge Rolfs and B-16 George Kutschenreuter/Jim Kutschenreuter/Rob Norris.

Overall standings at the end of day 1:
