Article by Matt Pistay - Judge Ryan leads the overalls after two days of racing at the 2011 Open Orange Bowl Regatta. Three points back in second overall, is Carlos Robles and Swedish entrant Johanna Sommardlund is third.

Everyone awoke to a strong 20 knot northerly and was quick to get ready for a long four race day. All were rigged and out on the water for a 11am start.

As race one got underway the wind had died down to about 10-12 knots from the north.

Ryan and crew Hans Henken of the USA showed everyone how it was done when they took the gun by a solid minute and a half. Matt Mollerus and Duncan Williford followed in second.

Race was concorde by young sailors Paris Henken and Conner Kelter, but over taken by Spain's Carlos Robles and Florian Trittel to take the win at the very end.

Race three commenced with the fleet splitting early on in a light 6 knot nor'easter. With the majority of the fleet going to a longer weather mark and a few boats going to a different weather mark. The teams that went to the proper mark are protesting the race committee to get redress on the boats that sailed the wrong course with USA's Sterling Henken and JP Barnes taking the win. They had fought hard for this win but, actually awarded second place after the protest. Teams that went to the wrong weather mark were chucked from the race.
