The 2012 Blue Chip Championship, hosted by the Pewaukee Yacht Club took place this past weekend in beautiful Pewaukee, Wisconsin. The E Blue Chip Regatta is the Pewaukee Yacht Club’s signature event and has been sailed on Pewaukee for over 45 years.

This annual event is the only regatta where competitors must qualify to receive a coveted invitation. The Blue Chip Regatta brought together nineteen teams with the top sailors in the country for three days of some of the toughest competitive racing you'll ever experience.

This year none other than Andy Burdick and team of Peter Keck, Jim Gluek, and Deb Gluek won the 2012 Blue Chip Regatta by winning 3 races in the series.

The quality of the competition was extremely high at the E Blue Chip Regatta with lead changes happening throughout the series. Bob Biwer lead after three races but dropped to fifth after race 5. Pat Heaney’s team was also very competitive during the series. In race 4, Heaney was first around with Burdick hot on his transom. They were close in battle the whole race, but Heaney couldn’t hold Burdick off who took the win with Heaney second. Steve Johanson’s team had a great last race and were battling it out in the top 3 spots the entire race. All of the teams were very competitive throughout the series battling not only each other but also the very unpredictable weather conditions.

The Pewaukee Yacht Club welcomed a “Mystery Guest”, Peter Isler, known as an Olympic sailor, motivational speaker, broadcaster and author to the Blue Chip Regatta. Peter Isler presented lots of interesting sailing stories at the traditional Saturday night party. It was a treat and everyone was talking about the Rambler accident and about the boat.

At the trophy presentations - every competitor had a kind word for all the volunteers at the Pewaukee Yacht Club that always go the extra mile to make every event a special event. The E Blue Chip Regatta was again a complete success.
