Charleston, SC - Day two at Sperry Top-Sider Charleston Race Week provided almost polar opposite conditions compared to Friday. Teams awoke to much cooler temperatures, more overcast skies and a continuously fluctuating breeze ranging from as low as 5 to as high as 12 knots. All in all, it was another successful day on Charleston Harbor for the thirty-three strong, star-studded Audi Melges 20 fleet.

Holding firm in first place is Michael Kiss on Bacio. His impressive 6-1-1-1 performance sealed the deal for the day. Robert Hughes' Heartbreaker bounced back into action to land second overall with James Wilson's Oleander occupying third.

PRO Hank Stuart and his spectacular Race Committee Team fired off four more races with Kiss simply dominating the scene. His toughest race was the first race of the day (Race Five in a series of ten) where he finished sixth. Besides Kiss, John Taylor's Ninkasi was the only other team to triumphantly win a race.

The second race of the day presented a great battle of speed and agility between Kiss and Taylor. As the race progressed, Kiss ultimately took the win, followed by Taylor in second. In third was fleet newcomer Mark Bremer on TRUE with borrowed crew of Dani Rast and Mitchell Kiss. Bremer recently purchased an Audi Melges 20 and Charleston is his first event. At the end of the day, he was beaming and when asked how it all went, his one word reply was 'fabulous'. Making his first Audi Melges 20 appearance all the sweeter, Bremer finished second overall to Kiss in Race Eight. Bremer also currently leads the All-Corinthian Division.

The last two race wins of the day went to Kiss, who just simply hammered the competition. Russell Lucas on Shimmer, who finished second in Race Seven, commented afterwards "Michael is just so fast.' Wilson was strong all day taking third. Steve Sisson on Tony Tabb's Elevation Racing placed fourth, followed by top Canadians Rob and Sandy Butler on Touch2Play.

Two final races are scheduled for Sunday. Forecasts have yet to detail exactly how heavy the breeze will or will not be. Early predictions were estimating wind speeds of up to 30 knots, however, other sources state it will be more reasonable ranging from the mid- to high-teens.

A VERY SPECIAL THANKS TO PAT EUDY
The International Audi Melges 20 Class Association wishes to extend great appreciation and thanks to Big Booty owner Pat Eudy for an incredible party and entertaining oyster roast. The line of severe thunderstorms that violently pushed their way through the Charleston area knocking out power in some places on Friday evening was no deterrent, an incredible time was had by all!
