Tomasini Grinover Holds On To First At 2014 Melges 32 Miami Winter Regatta

2 March 2014

Miami, Fla. - Day two at the 2014 Miami Winter Regatta hosted at Miami Beach Marina supported by Coconut Grove Sailing Club and Melges USA featured three more races revealing Roberto Tomasini Grinover’s Robertissima in first by one point. Right behind is Jason Carroll and his Argo team in second, then John Kilroy’s Samba Pa Ti in third.

The day started out under postponement, but in the end everyone agreed that PRO Anderson Reggio made the right decision to hold off until the breeze settled in. For Carroll’s Argo, it was well worth the wait.

Carroll was called OCS in the first race of the day, only to come back and win the heat. Tomasini Grinover kept Carroll within visual reach as he happily took second, followed by Germany’s Dieter Schoen on Momo in third.

The Argo team continued their success in Races Five and Six, leaving them no other choice than to take home with a handful of bullets.

After racing, teams enjoyed beer and snacks as they relaxed and prepared for the party at the Delano, sponsored in part by the Argo team.

Two final heats in the eight race series remains. The first warning on Sunday is 11.00.
