As published online with Scowlines — From start of race one, Burdick looked to be the one to beat. He popped off the port end of the line and looked to port tack the fleet although looking through 81 boats from the starboard end is intimidating. The north shore paid off for the early leaders on leg one but in race two Mark Tesar could be heard, "Don't talk to me about the north shore of Pewaukee." It was one of those days where sailors lived or died by a side. Roundings were often reversed by 30 boats. The last leg was key.

Noel Neuman of Upper Minnetonka took race one leading each mark.

Andy Burdick of Geneva (but don't fool yourself, he grew up on Pewaukee and may be the wizard of Pewaukee) took the other two races sailing alone for the first time in a few years. Last weekend he had Monroe Melges, Mya and Finn Burdick on at the Western Michigans in a C scow. He leads the fleet by 16 points after three races.

Harken generously provided tours on Friday for the entertainment. Tonight the famous rib night will entice most of the fleet. Thanks to Tammy Sawyer for the photos and to the many spectator boats. PRO Mark DeGuire had his crackerjack Pewaukee team together with Dennis Gazzana as port end. Lesa and John Gutenkunst along with Sherri Perrigo welcomed everyone and made sure the social side of the event is smashing. David Perrigo and his outside crew made 81 boats at the launch look easy. ---- an efficient, well-run event from the start.
