Chris Rast's EFG Leads the Melges 24 Audi-Tron Sailing Series After One Day of Racing

Porto Venere, May 1st 2015 – The Audi-Tron Sailing Series is well underway for the fantastic Melges 24! Day one is now complete and despite the heavy rain and on and off breeze, Chris Rast's EFG Bank (today, 1-1-4) now leads the provisional ranking with a five-point-margin over Riccardo Simoneschi's Audi-tron (2-8-1) — the “First of the Kings” in Loano, where the series officially commenced started a month ago.
Running third are the Corinthian World Champions aboard Storm Capital Sail Racing (5-2-6), helmed by Norwegian Stian Briseid.
In the top five there's also space for Maidollis (11-3-2) of Gianluca Perego, on its seasonal debut with Fracassoli-Bianchi followed by Lenny (3-5-8) with 2-time-Olympic medal Tonu Toniste.
Racing will resume tomorrow late morning, with weather forecasts predicting a slight improvement with wind blowing 8-10 knots.
The Melges 24 “King of Poets” will be crowned on Sunday.
