Davies Leads 2015 Canadian Nationals After Three Races
29 May 2015
Toronto, Canada — The 2015 Canadian National Championship is in full swing in Toronto, Canada, hosted by the Port Credit Yacht Club. After three races on opening day, Richard Davies' Section 16 is the leader. Davies' team delivered an impeccable 1-2-1 score to take the championship lead by one point. In second overall is Japan's Hiroshi Kurokawa on SPRAY. Drew Weirda's Peshmerga finished up the day in third, while the first of the Canadian teams is seated fourth — Paul Currie on Wild Deuces.
While Davies and Kurokawa commanded the stage swopping positions for the top spot, real battles were happening between Currie, Weirda, Canadian Fleet Captain Justin Quigg on Character 2.0 and Rhonda Joyce on Batteries Not Required. Teams reveled in the breeze that turned out to be better than forecasted.
Racing continues on Day 2, Saturday. Four more races are scheduled with warm temps and a pleasant 15-18 knots of breeze.
Periodic updates are being broadcasted on the Official Facebook Page of the Audi Melges 20 Canadian Fleet.
