How To Follow The 2016 Resolute Cup
14 September 2016
The Resolute Cup is more than just a regatta. It’s a chance for yacht clubs from across the country to showcase their best amateur talent. With provided yachts and sails and standardized rigging, the regatta represents the most level playing field in the sport of sailing. Live multimedia coverage will enable fellow members, friends and family to follow the action as it unfolds on Narragansett Bay.
Race Schedule & Location
Racing is schedule to run Wednesday, September 14, through Saturday, September 17, starting each day at 1030. The first two days of the regatta are qualifying, with the 28 teams broken into two groups. Each yacht club will sail five races in the Melges 20s and seven races in the Sonars. Once this rotation has completed, the top five teams from each group will move into the Gold Fleet, which will sail the remainder of the regatta in the Melges 20s. The other 18 boats will compete for Silver Fleet honors in the Sonars. Qualifying results do not carry over. All racing will take place inside of Narragansett Bay. The primary race area is between Rose Island and Goat Island.
All race information—including results, race instructions, press releases, etc.—will be accessible via the 2016 Resolute Cup webpage.
2D tracking of every race will be available through the TracTrac app for iPhones, iPads and Android devices as well as through the Resolute Cup website. The 2D tracking will allow fans to follow a specific boat for the duration of the race. Replays are available following the conclusion of a race.
The final two days of the 2016 Resolute Cup will be broadcast online. Live footage and 2D tracking animation will be accompanied by commentary from sailing experts including America’s Cup sailor Andy Green and America’s Cup umpire Brad Dellenbaugh. This coverage will be available via the LiveStream.com, where on-demand replays will be available. A LiveStream app is available on iTunes and through Google Play.
The Rolex NYYC Invitational Cup Facebook page will serve as the event’s media hub, with daily photo galleries of on-the-water action (by esteemed yachting photographer Paul Todd) and the onshore social activities, in-race updates, video highlights, post-race interviews and links to other key race information. Like the page, follow the racing and cheer on your favorite team. The New York Yacht Club’s Instagram page will post photos from the racing throughout the week.
