Article courtesy of Matt Pistay - Day one of the 2012 Bayview One Design Regatta brought cold wet weather to Detroit's Lake St Claire.

Race one started in 10-12 knots of breeze, then quickly dropped to 6-7 knots. Alan Field's WTF started gained the early lead, maintaining the entire way around the course. Detroit's local sailor, Bora Gulari on West Marine Rigging/New England Ropes fought hard for the second place finish. Charleston's Guy Mossman on Battle Rhythm finished in third.

The start of the second race delivered 5-6 knots of wind and rain all around, the race committee worked their mark set teams hard, moving marks here and there. They got the race off in marginal wind with everyone finishing within the race time limit. Again Field had a good start, took the lead and held on around the four-legged track to take the win. Paul Hulsey’s Hoodlum Racing, also a Detroit native, took second leaving Gulari in third.

After waiting under postponement for 2 hours the race committee was able to squeeze in a third and final race in a very shifty 5-6 knot westerly. Field triumphed again, fighting hard for his third win of the day with the course being very tricky. Mossman following in second and Tom Ritter on Tramp was third.
