3 July 2015

From the 10th to 26th July the Melges Audi-tron Sailing Series will showcase top One Design boats on its well-founded very competitive international racing circuit. Soon, it will be back to the Argentario with a rich list of sailors that hold impressive sailing CVs, and for the Melges 24 — it will be back to racing after the world championship happening right now in Denmark. They will take part in the fourth act of the series sponsored by the four-ring automotive brand — Audi.

Porto Ercole – The city is ready to open up its doors to the fourth act of the Audi-tron Sailing Series 2015 edition. The four-ring sailing series is back this year in Porto Ercole where the Melges fleet (20 and 32) as well as the specialists and PRO drivers of the Melges 24 class will be sailing on the beautiful racing field.

The attention is now focused on the picturesque Tuscan town in the Grosseto province with its ancient marine area already well appreciated by the crews and owners alike.

The first teams to cross the start line set on the waters opposite the Feniglia beach will be Melges 32s (10-12th July), followed by the Melges 20s (18-19 July), and finally, the Melges 24s (24-26th July).

The last ones are this year's newcomers in the series that will be competing just after the Melges 24 World Championship that saw teams that have been up to now leading characters in the international leader board that will surely make us enjoy a great sailing show on the Argentario waters comprising elite level national and international sailors.

Beside the top level of the competition, it will be Porto Ercole itself as the main character with its diverse landscape and beautiful surroundings.

Starting off from the Forte Stella watchtower going to the Sant'Erasmo and San Rocco churches, the Medieval protective wall and the Porta Pisana by the Clock Tower. The list of the landmarks goes on with the Argentario National Park with the beautiful "Corsini Garden".

The series is right in line with its eco-friendly vision, infact all competing boats are equipped with Torqeedo electric outboards.

Speaking about the beautiful scenarios Porto Ercole has to offer, needless to say that the success of the series lies in the accurate choice of the hosting venues, making sailing and the Melges boats ambassadors for the beauties of the “Bel Paese” not only the beautiful landscape but also the rich culinary range Italy has to offer to its local and international tourists.

Porto Ercole racing will be the stage for the fourth crowning of the season — the "King of the Rock" referring to the Argentario promontory. Other kings will be prized at the fifth sailing act in Trapani and in Genoa for the final act.
